Edit Images Locally and Keep Formats Consistent
Adapt one candidate into a square social tile and wide web banner while recording edit scope and evidence of visual consistency.
Today's Goals
- Identify visual anchors to preserve and regions allowed to change
- Specify selection, target, and rollback criteria for local edits
- Review whether square and wide assets communicate the same event
Plain-Language Walkthrough
A local edit is still a whole-asset decision
C2, the fictional D2 candidate showing an empty art table and abstract paper shapes, is only a selected direction. It is not a finished campaign file. D3 asks whether the visual idea can survive a square social tile and a wide web banner. The core message remains neighbors making art together. The approved palette stays deep teal, warm coral, and cream. The art-table motif, paper-craft texture, and blank area for human-set wording are visual anchors. The crop, peripheral decoration, and position of the blank area may change. If the anchor changes, a reviewer must decide whether the asset still belongs to the same kit.
A local edit means specifying a region and a desired change rather than asking for a wholly new picture. That can be useful when the wide banner needs more cream space or a stray mark must be removed. It also creates an easy blind spot: a tool may change color, lighting, or geometry outside the intended selection. Therefore the unit of approval remains the full exported asset, not just the edited patch. Keep the original candidate, the selected region, the edit prompt, the resulting version, and a comparison note. “I touched only the right edge” is a statement of intent, not evidence that the rest of the picture stayed the same.
Begin with an edit map. Draw both target frames. Mark the safe area for an eventual headline and the region where art may be cropped. Label A for the teal tabletop, B for the coral lantern, and C for the cream text space. These labels are a review device, not image-generation syntax. A colleague should be able to look at a proposed square crop and immediately notice if C has disappeared. Another should be able to inspect the banner and see if an invented logo or sponsor mark appears in a corner.
