Spaced Review: Error Cards, Fresh Variants, and a Review Calendar
Turn Noor's mistakes into cards, schedule reviews at roughly one, three, and seven days on study days, ask AI for variants with new numbers that Noor checks, and mix question types.
Today's Goals
- Rewrite mistakes as review cards with a prompt, an answer, and the reason.
- Schedule reviews at roughly one, three, and seven days on a real calendar.
- Ask AI for variants with new numbers, mix question types, and check every answer yourself.
Day 3 ended with three mistakes in the error log: two misconceptions that survived a good explanation, and one reading error. Today covers what happens to them over the following week, from Friday 23 to Thursday 29 October. The goal is not to fix them once more. Noor did that on Thursday, and could answer correctly an hour later. The goal is to make the fix last. That takes two things the assistant is well suited to support: reviews spread out over time, and fresh questions each time, so that Noor practises the rule instead of remembering an answer. It also needs one thing the assistant cannot do: deciding, from honest results, whether the learning has stuck.
Plain-Language Walkthrough
Why spacing beats cramming
If you review something five times in one evening, it feels mastered by the fifth time. If you review it once a day for five days, each review feels harder, because you have partly forgotten it in between. The surprise from decades of learning research is that the second approach produces far more durable memory. Retrieving something just as it starts to fade strengthens it more than retrieving it while it is still fresh. Cramming produces fluency that disappears within days; spacing produces memory that lasts.
The practical consequence is counterintuitive. A review session should feel a little difficult. If every answer comes instantly, the gap since the last review was probably too short. If you cannot answer at all, it was probably too long, or the idea was never secure. Noor's schedule aims for the middle: reviews spread out enough that each one takes some effort.
