Agent Engineer Interviews in 7 Days: Round by Round, Still Standing at the Third Follow-Up

Behavioral Questions and a Full Mock Interview: Verifiable STAR Stories and a Weakness Report

Behavioral questions ask about the past and judge who you will be: can your results be checked, which part was yours, and what did you change after a failure. Today practices verifiable STAR stories, the line between I and we, failure stories, and the questions you ask at the end. Then the modules from the first six days go into two panels, one China-style and one overseas-style, and each of the three scripted candidates runs through both. The interviewer agent hands back a weakness report where every weakness points to the matching course on this site, and the seven days come together in one sentence.

Today's Goals

  1. Can tell a story in verifiable STAR form: results with a denominator or baseline, a clear account of which part was yours, and a failure story that lands on what you changed afterward
  2. Can prepare for the common dimensions of an overseas behavioral round and the questions to ask at the end, and say what each question is trying to learn
  3. Can run the interviewer agent through both the China-style and overseas-style panels, read the weakness report, and follow its pointers back to the matching courses to improve

The last day: first the last kind of round, then the seven days strung into two complete interviews. When you finish, come back to the top and check off the three goals.

Plain-Language Walkthrough

A first date: "I am very reliable" says nothing, one concrete story says everything

The most common self-introduction on a first date is a string of adjectives: "I'm pretty reliable, easygoing, responsible." The other person nods and remembers nothing. Another kind of introduction tells a story: "Last month a friend was moving. We'd agreed on eight in the morning, I got there at seven thirty, found out the van he'd booked hadn't shown up, found another one on short notice, and we hauled boxes until evening." Not one adjective, and they already know whether you are reliable.

Behavioral rounds work exactly this way. "Tell me about a time you disagreed with a colleague", "Tell me about a time you messed up": the interviewer asks about the past and judges who you will be. Adjectives carry no information; everyone says they are "responsible" and "a good communicator". A concrete story does, because it can be followed up: what time did you arrive? Why didn't the van come? How did you find the other one?

So preparing for a behavioral round is the same skill as preparing for the project deep dive: tell something that really happened, where every detail survives follow-up. The difference is that the deep dive follows up on technical choices, and the behavioral round follows up on how you make judgments about people and events.

The STAR format itself is covered on Day 27 of the 30-day course and is not repeated here. Today practices one thing only: whether the story holds up when followed up.
